Present Drug Therapy
Recent advances in medicine in the field of drugs, gene therapy, stem cell and organ transplantation is believed to prove a boon to mankind. On the other side of the coin except bacterial and fungal infections many diseases are still incurable. AIDS has emerged as second largest killer of young population. Cancer has broken up it's age barrier. Epidemic of viral diseases like SARS, bird flu etc. has a capacity to paralyze global health system. Common diseases like Arthritis, Asthma, Allergy, Diabetes, Hypertension, Migraine, and Parkinson's disease are being treated symptomatically, there is no curative treatment.
The spurious and substandard drugs have emerged as a global health problem. It has already been reported by various media that 20 to 25% of branded drugs of even reputed pharmaceuticals are quantitatively or qualitatively substandard. Medical practitioner and patient neither have knowledge to analyze drugs independently before administration nor they have capacity to fight capitalistic pharmaceutical industry ,as result inspite of correct diagnosis and treatment doctors cannot provide desired therapeutic results to patients. On the top of this, a sword of consumer court is always hanging on doctor's head. Despite of appropriate doses for appropriate time, it is highly unpredictable who and when one shall succumb to adverse drug reactions (ADR). Majority of ADR do not have specific antidote. Even if a specific antidote is available, it could be a substandard or spurious drug by itself.
Drugs for e.g. Thalidomide, Asetimazole, Tefenadine, Phenacetin, Amidopyrine etc.. are introduced in market and after few years they are banned, meanwhile many innocent patients have been victimized. It speaks about suboptimal research standards. Generally in drug research animal models are used. Animals are administered with the drug under consideration. Their physical and biochemical changes are observed. Since animals cannot express their discomfort, distress, pain, alteration in sense of wellbeing; they cannot be equated with human beings for defining safety and efficacy of drugs. Ultimately human beings are directly victimized for drug therapy and the vicious circle continues.
Neuroimmunisation (Superenergisation) therapy is of great help to break the vicious circle and to bridge the gap between therapist and patient.
Antipsychotic Drugs
It is high time for medical armamentarium to review the rational of liberal use of antipsychotic drugs. It has been proved beyond doubt by a world renowned neurologist and noble prize winner Sir John Eccles, mind and brain are two different entities. A world renowned American psychiatrist Sir Peter Breggin has concluded in his thirty years of his experience by publicly expressing his view 'Mind cannot be treated by drugs or electroconvulsive therapy. These are brain damaging measures. They cause enumerable irreversible adverse effects like tardive dyskinesia, akathesia, dystonia, suicide and violence ……..sometimes life threatening complications like neuroleptic malignant syndrome half of the affected people die. It's criminal to ruin their life in totality. It is our duty to empower so called mentally disabled'. According to him; they have common, sometimes serious adverse effects on brain and heart. Heart can be damaged irreversibly and could be potentially dangerous.
